The best bit about running this business over the years has been the moments I spend with our customers. I’m not just saying that because it sounds good. Some customers have no idea at all what colour door they want, how to go about transferring what’s in their head onto glass or what furniture would look great on their door and what would make it unique.
I give people time. Time is something that lot’s of business owners don’t have a lot of but it’s an essential ingredient when you are crafting something that just has to be right. Big companies can’t give you time, they just don’t have it (I know these people) so I made it compulsory – I’ll give you time so that you get the front door you dream about.
Here are some messages I’ve had from the wonderful people I’ve made and restored doors for in the last 13 years…
Georgian front door restoration
“Thank you so much for bringing our beloved door back to life for us, we are so, so, please and cannot recommend you highly enough.”
Dale & Andy – Derbyshire 2019
Grand Victorian with etched glazing
We knew we wanted a special door but with a new renovation project the budget was always tight. After lots of emails from us and after viewing many cheaper alternatives and off the shelf solutions we decided nothing was going to cut it, we had to get it done properly. We are so glad we did!
From Chris’ initial visit to completion of the job, Chris seemed to understand exactly what it was we were after. We knew it was going to make a difference to the house but I don’t think we had realized quite how much.
To say we love our new front door is an understatement – the whole thing was a really good experience and we look forward to enjoying our door for years to come.”

It has actually transformed the look of our house.
Chris has been absolutely brilliant and is a real craftsman with an eye for design and detail. The new stained glass that he suggested matches that of the original Victorian door frame and is actually (well to me me anyway) beautiful!
Nothing has been too much trouble for Chris. I would happily recommend him to anyone. Thanks again Chris.”
Claire – Chorlton, Manchester
1930s restoration and new leaded glass
“What a result.
We looked at different companies to restore our front door. We are so pleased we chose The Grand Victorian Door Company.
Chris did an amazing job. He re designed the stain glass to include our house number and included patterns and colours from the other stained glass on our house. And to top it off he gifted us a beautiful Christmas wreath.”

“Our new door totally transforms the whole look of the front of our house. I had a vision how I wanted it to look and Chris has taken this vision and made it a reality! This beautifully classic door will bring us much happiness for many years to come.”

“We could not be happier with the fabulous job that Chris has done for us.
He refurbished our 100 year old front door and came up with a brilliant solution for retaining the original glass in a bespoke double glazing unit.
We were so impressed with his work that we got Chris to fit brand new internal doors, he took great care to adjust each one so that they fitted into the misshapen frames. All his work is done to a very high standard. If you want someone reliable with talent and passion for their work to do a first rate job, look no further than Chris, we whole heartedly recommend him.”
David – Didsbury

“Chris, You’ve put the soul back into our old Front door..
We knew it either needed replacing or someone needed to give our door some serious tlc- that you did and we’re delighted with the results.

Grand Victorian front door and arched frame
“Thanks again for designing and fitting our beautiful door. At some point on most days I consciously enjoy either opening or closing it and feeling the satisfying, weighty and sturdy feel of it on its hinges. In the evening our hallway lights beam through the glazed panels and in the morning they allow light to flood the hallway.
Perhaps more exciting than the door itself was the experience of meeting someone so passionate about what they do. A real enthusiast, artist and perfectionist! Chris and the Grand Victorian is the anti-production line. I would like to own several more front doors to try out all the designs and combinations possible but we’ll just have to settle for the one for now!
It’s been the best thing we’ve done to our house so far.
Thank you for your time, patience and effort.”
Alastair & Maggie – Bolton

”I can’t thank you enough for the work that you recently carried out at my house. The door looks absolutely fantastic and the difference it has made externally and internally is amazing.
Thank you for all your advice, it’s great to meet people who have an obvious passion for their work and it shows in your workman and craftsmanship. I will recommend you to anyone who is thinking of buying a new door. Being an estate agent I know that first impressions count and from the comments from friends and neighbors who have seen the door it’s the best money I have spent in a long time.
Good luck for the future and thanks again.”

1930s front door restoration with leaded glass
“I had got to the stage where the front door needed to be replaced and I spent hour looking at doors (it was staring to become an obsession) but could find nothing I liked as much as the original 1930’s door that I had.
I found The Grand Victorian Door Company and Chris, at our first meeting Chris reassured that he would be able to restore the door and true to his word that ‘s what he’s done.
I how have a beautiful front door with all the fittings , Chris even put up a new curtain rail for me, It was great to find someone passionate about what they do, I have no hesitation in recommending Chris to anyone who needs a new door or a door restoring.”
